Freedom in Surrender

Pride is the greatest block between oneself and God. C.S. Lewis described pride as the greatest sin.
“As long as you are proud you cannot know God. A proud man is always looking down on things and people: and, of course, as long as you are looking down you cannot see something that is above you.” (C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity)
Pride puts us above our creator. We think we know best.

Surrendering to the Eternal allows us to let go of worries. Ironically, fear stops us from surrendering. God’s way may not be the way we would choose, but trust that God’s way is for the highest good of all. We do our part as God guides us. Develop through communication and service a personal and loving relationship with our Creator. This relationship helps us build and exercise trust, enabling surrender. But how do we know God’s Will if we have no connection with God? How can one surrender when one has not experienced the embrace of Spirit? If one is not confident in his or her discernment and relationship with the Divine, either continue with prayer and meditation and/or find a source that you feel most confident is in relation with the Divine. The scriptures tells us that by their fruits we shall know them.
We think of surrender as sacrifice. We fear we will be asked to give up something that we are attached to. Sacrifice has a different meaning. When experiencing oneness with the true Self, there is nothing to sacrifice because it comes from a place of abundance. Through you abundance flows and continues to flow to all in need.
If we have the servant mindset and the sacrificial heart, desiring to give more than what we have received, this will lead us as a people back to health. It would restore what has been lost. Surrender is healing as well as freeing.
Trust that God is taking care of us and that all happens according to God’s Will. This does not mean we cannot excel and learn and grow and bless others and this world with our talents, in fact, that is God’s design. What it means is that we surrender the whole process to the Eternal. We trust and know with a surety that all that comes our way is Divine.
This also means not labeling or judging that which comes our way as good or bad, but trusting that all is as it is meant to be. This is very difficult, especially in the face of loss, but what we consider from our limited perspective as loss, God sees very differently. Divine sadness is a result of feeling the pain caused by our ignorance. If we trust, we can see and hear and know. We can know God in this lifetime. We only have to believe.
